The rate of environmental degradation is an increasing trend globally and most especially in many developing nations where it has food production implications. This deterioration quality mostly attributed to population growth, urbanization, industrialization, unsustainable agricultural practices. Niger Delta region Nigeria the oil gas province Nigeria. activities illegal crude refiners, theft, vandalism, etc. are common within region, thereby leading major biophysical matrices conditions. Plant fish-based diets sources for humans region. review focuses on implications artisanal refining (ACOR) sustainable found that refiners harming vegetation cover, altering physicochemical microbial composition soil, releasing hydrocarbons into environment, which absorbed by increase human biodiversity contamination from ACOR as well loss arable farmlands, uncontrolled bush burning, increased cases soil erosion. Therefore, having negative effects security, characterized availability, accessibility, stability, utilization. Hence, there a need curtail through issuance operational liens followed stricter regulations monitoring harmful emissions released during processes.
